I first began doing translations in 1983, doing everything from translating contracts and proposals to interpreting for the U.S. Armed Forces Balkans Readiness Force as well as the mayor of Managua (now President of Nicaragua), Arnoldo Alemán. The agencies I have worked with have also furnished translations for some of the largest U.S. and international corporations. I have a total of seven years of experience translating full-time, and 12 years if part-time work is included.
My rate of 7 U.S. cents per target word for professional, quality translations, from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish, is about 25 percent lower than what other professional translators charge.

I was born in Ilford (London) England on the 23rd of march 1963. Since a very early age I learned English at school and Italian at home allowing me to became bilingual which proved to be a great asset when I moved to Rome (Italy) in 1971 and attended school there. I then moved to Toronto (Canada) in 1979 where I completed high school and studied music at the Royal Conservatory of music. My carrier as a classical guitarist and music teacher was short lived when a severe neck problem forced me to retire from Music.
In 1994 I decided to move back to Italy in a small, pretty town, called Arezzo near Florence. It's in Arezzo that I began working as an English teacher and doing translations for some local companies putting to good use my language skills and teaching abilities. Translating texts in different languages is a real challenge and it's very important to understand and know the cultural background of each country. You must have the knowledge of the languages and constantly search for terms used in the subjects translated. Having lived in different countries has enabled me to develop these skills that very often are the most crucial ingredients for a good translation.

Ich habe 6 Monate in einer französischen Regionalzeitung (Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace, Straßburg) in der Übersetzungsabteilung gearbeitet. Dabei ging es um die Übersetzung der vorwiegend französischen Artikel ins Deutsche für die zweisprachige Ausgabe der Zeitung. Ich arbeitete in einem Team von mehreren deutschen und französischen Übersetzern, was es mir ermöglichte, in die Fremdsprache zu übersetzen. Die bearbeiteten Themen waren äußerst unterschiedlich: Gerichtsberichte, lokales Geschehen, Wirtschaft, Politik, Umwelt, Vorfälle usw.
Von Januar bis August 2001 arbeitete ich als Angestellte für ein Übersetzungsbüro (24Translate, Hamburg). Aufgrung der Auftragslage wurde das Arbeitsverhältnis in eine freie Mitarbeit umgewandelt. Seit Januar ist meine Übersetzungstätigkeit sehr vielfältig: Wirtschaft, Recht, Technik, IT usw. Vorwiegend bearbeite ich Texte im IT-Bereich (Software, Hardware, Lokaliesierung, Gebrauchsanweisungen).
